www.phillyburbs.com TABERNACLE â" One massive forest fire is still burning uncontained in the Pinelands in Tabernacle and Woodland, and now Burlington County firefighters are being called to assist with a second large blaze, this one in the woods on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The base fire is burning on Range 14 on the former Fort Dix side of the mega base. Between 150 to 200 acres of brush has burned so far, according to initial reports. Emergency officials said a task force of firefighters was sent to help base firefighters at around 10:10 am, a Burlington County Central Communications supervisor. Dozens of firefighters from the New Jersey Forest Fire Services and area fire companies are already battling a 600-acre blaze in Tabernacle and Woodland. As much as 1000 acres is expected to burn from the fire, which is still believed to be less than 50 percent contained, according to fire officials. No injuries have been reported so far, but about 25 homes are threatened! , said Steve Maurer, an assistant fire warden with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. "They did some back fires around those homes to protect them," Maurer said. So far no mandatory evacuation have been ordered.
